Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) performed to reduce anxiety. OCD is often misunderstood as a personality quirk, but it's a clinical condition that can severely impair daily functioning. We provide medication management that targets the underlying neurobiology.
Signs & symptoms
- Intrusive, distressing thoughts you can't control
- Repetitive behaviors (checking, counting, cleaning, arranging)
- Spending more than an hour a day on obsessions or compulsions
- Knowing the behaviors are excessive but unable to stop
- Avoidance of situations that trigger obsessions
- Significant interference with work, relationships, or daily life
Our approach
SSRIs at therapeutic doses are the first-line pharmacological treatment for OCD, often at higher doses than used for depression. We titrate carefully and monitor response over 8-12 weeks, as OCD typically takes longer to respond than other anxiety conditions.
Who is this for?
Adults experiencing obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that cause distress or take up significant time each day.
